'Those Hideous Creatures' Haunt Your Speakers With Psychedelic Breakbeats

Those Hideous Creatures is an instrumental album by prolific San Diego artists Edgar IsReal and Kemtrell. (2/3's of the group These Hands Create aka T.H.C.) Their new venture is a cinematic journey through grimy lofi break-beats. Their sound has such a live vibe, you can almost hear electricity surging through their beat machines as their hands hit the beat pads. There isn't a dull moment on this album. Not all dark, these songs move through many moods and worldly sounds. With so many layers of samples and synths woven together it's an impressive feat that it remains so cohesive; rumbling bass, stuttering, phasing, and chopping effects tie this tapestry together into a wall of sound. It's an elegant yet disturbing movie score to your psyche, with a constant breakbeat cutting through the madness. Like all good art, Those Hideous Creatures leave room for the listener to occupy the music and have a personal experience. It's up to you where you travel, but regardless of your destination, you will enjoy the trip.
